Green Icon Schumacher is committed to doing its part to protect the planet by conducting business in an environmentally responsible manner and providing beautiful yet eco-friendly choices. The green leaf logo designates fabrics and wallcoverings that meet Schumacher’s standards for sustainability. To receive the green leaf designation, products must meet two or more of the following established standards:

Product has received Oeko-Tex 100 Certification. www.oekotex.com
Mill producing product has received ISO 14001 Certification. www.iso.org
Mill producing product has received ISO 9001/SA 8000 Certification.
Product is made of 100% natural and fast renewable materials (e.g. linen, jute, bamboo).
Product is made of USDA-certified organic cotton. www.usda.gov
Mill producing the product uses safe dyeing, bleaching and finishing processes and has test results to substantiate processes. More on responsible manufacturing.
Product is made from 100% high-purity, recycled post-consumer or post-industrial polyester.

Sustainable Fabrics

Schumacher’s sustainable fabrics include solids, stripes, checks and herringbone, luxurious velvets and microfibers. The collections feature linen, a natural, non-allergenic fiber that can be finished without using harmful dyes or chlorine bleach; jute, a fully biodegradable, quickly renewable fabric resource that provides natural UV protection; and velvet from a mill that practices safe dyeing, bleaching and finishing processes.

Sustainable Wallcoverings

Schumacher’s environmentally conscious wallcoverings use all-natural materials, natural wheat-based glue and environmentally safe dyeing processes. The sustainable wallcoverings selection includes grasscloth, sisal and paper weaves.
