SCHUMACHER’S GREENHOUSE COLLECTION: A FRESH LOOK AT TIMELESS WALLCOVERINGSSchumacher celebrates all things spring with the Greenhouse Collection. This grouping of botanically inspired wallcoverings features lush blossoms, leafy trellised vines, colorful birds and butterflies intermingled with softly hued patterns perfectly suited for timeless interiors. In Schumacher’s new Greenhouse Collection, surface printing combines a classic technique with beautifully drawn designs in a thoroughly updated color palette. Crafted with the textured look of traditional surface printing, these gentle garden florals, damasks, garden vines and small patterns have an authentic aesthetic reminiscent of block printed wallcoverings. The centuries-old surface printing method in which metal rollers print on coated paper grounds was the first type of automated wallcovering printing, and this tradition continues today. Many of the wallcoverings in this collection were updated from Schumacher’s extensive archives. Hobe Erwin originally designed Hydrangea Drape, a classical floral and stripe, for Schumacher in the 1930s. Erwin, who was a New York designer and art director, used this paper for the interior set decoration in Gone with the Wind, which won the Oscar for feature film in 1939.
